One of the funniest interweb sites in the multiverse is coming to Pianos on Thursday, July 23rd and if you aren’t familiar with Everything is Terrible just watch the amazing trailer they made for the night below. I also recommend spending a few hours coughing up milk through nose while you navigate the their massively hilarious archive of videos up on Everything is Terrible.

more about Everything is Terrible….

Everything is Terrible! is the internet sensation video collective responsible for some of 2009’s most intriguing viral videos. From Yogi Ogi Dogi – the yoga farmer teaching kids to stretch (creepily) to Cat Massage (just what you’d think), we are mining the VHS universe for all the best – and worst – bits. This isn’t some youtube compilation site. Every video is original, and it’s fantastic media art – and a great look into America’s hidden past.

EIT!‘s daily postings of genuinely ridiculous videos and out of context movie scenes ripped from old VHS releases have been hailed by MTV, Fox, Time, BoingBoing, Buzzfeed, WFMU, Videogum, Best Week Ever, The Soup, and Jezebel, while the CBC deemed it simply ‘The best site ever.’

The Chicago Tribune did a feature on EIT! last spring, writing, “the purveyors of the Everything is Terrible blog mine bits of inadvertent yet sublime comedy.” Paste just did a little something on us, and summing up EIT!‘s mission aptly: “For a couple years now, the cultural historians over at Everything Is Terrible! have worked hard to dredge up all the groan-inducing infomercials, workout videos, PSAs and otherwise terrible footage from the ’80s and ’90s that they could find.”

As a live event, Everything is Terrible!: Unblogged!, is more than just a screening of unseen clips and exclusives, as well as the occasional full length feature from the Terrible archives. We tour either as a 5some, or sometimes a 3some, or… whoever’s available at the time, but the show’s always great. We have fully developed costumes and personas (see here, here, here, and here.), and audiences definitely get their money’s worth.
